New season

On Thursday 27th March 2008 our planning application was considered for approval by the Harrogate Borough Council Planning Committee.  We are pleased to confirm that the Committee members unanimously approved the proposals and also expressed their good wishes for the future success of our club.

15 weeks of intensive hardcore fitness training culminated on a sunny June afternoon for the start of the 2007 Bed Race.  The bed was dressed up as a Pirate Ship for the parade, with Captain Spence leading his team who were hungry for bed race glory.  The race itself was very competitive and gruelling - taking place in 23 degrees! However, liquid refreshment was supplied to the rugby club runners by the Support team, led by Matt Houseman,  by throwing beer on the team as they passed the pub. Cheers lads! In the race, KRUFC overtook 3 beds round the course and 4 in the river to land 12th position with a time of 17 minutes 16 seconds. The team can be very proud of their efforts and its a good start for next years event.

This will probably be our last season without our own facilities. To this end we have the opportunity to have a MAJOR fund raising year with all efforts chanelled into "The New Club House Fund ". Absolutely anything you can think of that will make money, will make Fawcett smile, and thats a whole lot better than the way he usually is.  It would be great to have more events organised that we could all possibly attend. We could try...........

1. Bike Ride in July/Aug. Format to be pub hopping, fancy dress with a collection
2. Ian Shaw is organising the inter-club 7-a-side in August
3. Sponsored back, sack, and crack event!! Liam to organise.
4. BBQ
5. Go-Carting, Paint-Balling, etc
6. 'Its A Knockout' invite Wetherby, Ripon, Frome  

Anyway you all get the picture, so please lets get some events planned and the money rolling in. To that end, for the pleasure of being part of the club it will cost you.........

Subscriptions payed asap to Rod Stevenson or The Treasurer. Prizes for first 10 to become 2007/08 members. We are considering additional charges for those who choose to run into October without becoming members. Lets have a hard, fun and successful season.  And please support your new club captain however you can.
